EyrePlus partners up with the Australian Red Cross and Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation to deliver Driver Mentor Program

The Driver Mentor Program has provided participants across our community with the opportunity to get and keep their driver licence and be safe and legal drivers.

It is with great pleasure to announce that EyrePlus has now joined the Australian Red Cross and Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation as a program partner to deliver the Driver Mentor Program within Ceduna.

This program supports participants across our community to:

• Obtain their learner’s permit 
• Complete their 75-hour logbook driving experience
• Lead into other driver education opportunities
• Complete the Vehicle On Road Test (VORT)

The program is delivered free-of-charge to participants who:

• Do not have access to a suitable licensed driver
• Do not have access to a suitable, registered, roadworthy vehicle 

Australian Red Cross currently provide back-end program support, including volunteer engagement, recruitment, relevant insurances, program policies and procedures, coordination of drivers and mentors, mentor training and referral pathways. Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation supplies the vehicle and fuel for the program.  

“EyrePlus are excited about this community partnership with both the Australian Red Cross and Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation,” says EyrePlus General Manager, Simon Rodgers.

“We believe that having a driver’s license is so important on many levels. It is one of the most significant barriers for many of our Community Development Participants (CDP) in achieving their employment goals,” says Simon.

The success of the Driver Mentor Program to date has relied on the goodwill of staff and volunteers to support the operational and delivery aspects of the program.
