Meet Kai, who has just kickstarted an exciting new career as an apprentice carpenter.

Kai had previously been working as a storeman here in Ceduna. During our regular monthly catchup with him, Kai mentioned that he was interested in getting his foot in the door of the construction industry.

Trade Maintenance Direct (TMD) contacted EyrePlus, seeking an apprentice carpenter. EyrePlus connected TMD to Career Employment Group to facilitate this apprenticeship placement for Kai. We work with businesses across the Eyre Peninsula, providing free services, connections to training providers and a specialised end-to-end recruitment package.

Kai is a committed young man who gets along great with everyone around him and who has enjoyed his time participating in the Community Development Program (CDP). He is also the first EyrePlus participant to land an apprenticeship.

Kai will now get the opportunity to work in an industry that is vital to the community and alongside qualified carpenters and painters, plumbers, and electricians.

When we asked Kai how he was feeling on his first day, he said, “I’m as keen as a bean.”

EyrePlus congratulates Kai on his apprenticeship and wishes him every success on his new career path and for the future
