With support from EyrePlus through the Community Development Program (CDP), The Yalata Workforce Development crew has transformed the local Community Police Station through a major beautification project.
What began as a practical upgrade quickly became a story of local pride, teamwork, and skill development.
Participants took on painting, landscaping and general maintenance tasks that gave the station a complete refresh.
Fresh paint has revived tired surfaces, while new landscaping has shaped outdoor areas for easier care and upkeep. Pathways and entrances were repaired and tidied to a consistent, safe standard, creating a more welcoming space for residents, visitors and local police alike.
The result is more than a facelift. It is a visible improvement that reflects community care and effort.

Alongside the physical work, participants gained valuable hands-on experience operating equipment such as ride-on mowers, brush cutters and compact loaders. These practical skills build confidence and open doors to jobs in civil construction, landscaping and maintenance.
Each task reinforced workplace essentials including safe work practices, teamwork, planning and task completion. These skills strengthen participants’ employment readiness and transfer directly into other industries.
“It’s great to see our own people leading the way, gaining skills, using machinery, and taking pride in improving our community.”

This project is a strong example of what the Community Development Program (CDP) does best: connecting people to meaningful work while delivering real benefits for communities.
With CDP concluding at the end of October 2025 and the new Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES) commencing on 1 November, EyrePlus is ready to continue this important work. RAES will build on CDP’s legacy by focusing on skill-building, mentoring and stronger pathways to employment across remote Australia. Stay tuned for more information about the new program coming soon.
EyrePlus congratulates the Yalata crew for their professionalism, teamwork and commitment to community improvement. The upgraded station now stands as a daily reminder of what local people can achieve together, strengthening both place and potential in Yalata.
