The Koonibba Community Aboriginal Corporation is driving positive change with upgrades planned for several important community spaces. These projects reflect the dedication and leadership of local community members and are supported by EyrePlus, which works closely with the community from planning through to delivery, providing funding, guidance and on-the-ground support.
These community-led initiatives are already making great progress. Restoration work at the Koonibba Community Cemetery is underway to honour past generations and ensure it remains a place of cultural and spiritual significance.
The Koonibba Men’s Shed is also receiving much-needed upgrades, transforming it into a practical hub where community members can take part in hands-on activities and contribute to local projects. It is a space for building and creating, as well as for sharing knowledge, strengthening relationships and supporting wellbeing.
Another important milestone is the revitalisation of the Koonibba Community Hall, a gathering place with strong local history. As part of the Workforce Development Project, upgrades to the hall’s toilet facilities will help ensure it remains a functional and welcoming space for community events, meetings and celebrations.
The Koonibba Youth Hub has also undergone a transformation, with new cement paths and freshly laid lawn improving the outdoor area. These upgrades create a safer, more inviting space where young people can connect, play and grow, supporting the next generation of leaders in Koonibba.
Backed by funding from the Community Development Program’s Workforce Development and Community Projects, these initiatives are more than just upgrades; they represent an investment in Koonibba’s future, building cultural pride, creating jobs and bringing people together in safe, welcoming spaces. EyrePlus is proud to be part of this partnership supporting the community every step of the way and helping deliver lasting, community-led outcomes.
Well done to everyone involved – your hard work is shaping a stronger, more connected Koonibba.
