At EyrePlus, we empower remote communities by creating employment pathways that help job seekers build on their strengths, grow in their careers, and connect with opportunities that create lasting impact.

Jayziya Weetra’s journey is a powerful example of what can be achieved when hard work, opportunity, and the right support align. His story highlights how place-based solutions and community partnerships can open meaningful employment pathways for remote job seekers.

Starting out with labour hire work, Jayziya was engaged through the Far West Coast Aboriginal Corporation and placed on-site with USL Group (USL), a construction solutions business known for its civil engineering projects worldwide.

“When I first started, I was unsure what I was getting myself into. But as time went on, I found I was really enjoying the experience. I’m thankful for the opportunity Far West Coast Aboriginal Corporation has provided, being exposed to highly skilled professionals who, over time, have become lifelong mates. My supervisors from USL always provide words of encouragement. They’re just a great bunch of blokes.”

From the early stages of base slab installation to panel setups and the final ditch pour, Jayziya’s willingness to learn and his strong work ethic stood out. His contribution impressed USL to the point where he was offered a three-year contract on a major bridge-building project in Fremantle, Western Australia.

“I’ve been impressed with Jayziya, he has a great attitude, which made it easy for me to take him under my wing. He’s always willing to learn and has been here from the start of the project. It’s been great to see him help build something that will benefit the community.”

USL is also supporting his relocation and housing needs, ensuring he and his family are ready for this next chapter. For Jayziya, the knowledge that a global company recognises and invests in his potential has been a major boost in confidence. Site Manager Loront has worked closely with him to make sure he feels supported and prepared to take the next step in his career.

“I am proud of what we have achieved as a team, and am looking forward to the day when my kids are older and I can tell them I helped build that tank”.
