EyrePlus are thrilled to share the positive impact of our Community Care Pilot, an initiative focused on creating real employment opportunities in the Far West Region of South Australia.
Since its launch on October 1, 2024, the pilot has been dedicated to enhancing employment pathways in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and aged care sectors for Community Development Program (CDP) participants in remote Indigenous communities.
The program has already made significant strides, with 50 participants engaging in tailored training programs, gaining essential skills and certifications needed to thrive in the care industry.
A key highlight of the pilot is the hands-on support provided to the participants, including transport assistance, licensing support, and practical work placements.
This approach also includes developing culturally relevant promotional materials and conducting outreach programs to raise awareness about the NDIS and care sector opportunities.
Through strong partnerships with local employers and NDIS providers, including The Driver Mentor Program, Port Lincoln Training Centre, Service SA, TAFE SA and On The Right Track , we are ensuring the program’s long-term success and sustainability.
The Pilot has received positive feedback, with one participant sharing that they have gained a better understanding of how to care for people living with disability due to the NDIS online induction course, commented:
“Everyone in the world should do an NDIS online induction course so we can all have better understanding of how those living with a disability like to be treated and live their life.”
Debra Goode, program coordinator, has also praised the pilot for helping participants start their search for employment with a new set of skills:
“Participants have been given an amazing foundation to seek employment in the care sector and beyond.” Debra said.
The Community Care Pilot is more than just a project – it’s a pathway to financial independence, community empowerment, and social inclusion, while supporting employment in the care sector, providing vital support services to our community’s most vulnerable members. It embodies EyrePlus’ commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to support our participants, celebrate their achievements, and drive positive change in our region!
This initiative was an exciting opportunity for eligible Indigenous CDP participants.
CDP is an Employment program for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in regional, rural and remote Australia to achieve sustainable employment outcomes by strengthening skills, addressing barriers and contributing to their communities through a range of flexible work-like activities.
