NEWSCDP Cameron building a brighter future through local employment, education and training
Cameron has been a treasured Community member in Yalata and first teamed up with EyrePlus in August 2019 through the Community Development Program (CDP) when he registered as a volunteer participant.
His immediate goal was to make a positive contribution by connecting more with his community and improve his employability skills.
Cameron recently gained a position working with the National Aboriginal Construction Partners Project (NACPP) building team, who are working on extending the Tullawon Health Aged Care Facility in Yalata.
He has been working every day to help the construction team, performing site maintenance and assisting the team with various duties on site.
During his employment with NACPP, EyrePlus has provided Post Placement Support services for Cameron to ensure he seamlessly transitions into the workplace. He is also currently working through an EyrePlus online digital training package on Workplace Health and Safety with the assistance of Andrew, EyrePlus Trainer and Yalata Anangu Aboriginal Corporation Youth Program Coordinator.
“I have known Cameron for many years and am extremely proud of his continued dedication and passion for working. He is a leader amongst his peers and a great example to the young ones in town,” said Andrew.
Cameron has also made great strides to improve his reading, writing, and literacy skills, including learning how to create an email account, which he regularly checks for correspondence. Cameron is proud of his many achievements during his journey with EyrePlus.
EyrePlus congratulates Cameron for his dedication to his community, his willingness to improve and build through experiences and personal development and wish him every success in the future.
CDP is an Employment program for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in regional, rural and remote Australia to achieve sustainable employment outcomes by strengthening skills, addressing barriers and contributing to their communities through a range of flexible work-like activities.
